Need is Welcome
Paying it Forward, Serving Our Community

Welcome

We are best described as a 'non-food' food bank, The Community Basket's ultimate goal is to provide members of our community who are in need with five hygiene, cleaning, and paper items per visit. These are items that food stamps DO NOT PROVIDE! Inspired by Take Five Community Outreach, which served the East Central Indiana community for over 9 years. The Community Basket continues the philosophy that if a person walks through out doors, they have a need in one of three areas: physical (needing toilet paper, soap, etc.), emotional (needing someone to just listen, and then seek a referral to other agencies, or spiritual.
How do you fund your organization?

While first and foremost a Ministry of the Jar Community Church, The Community Basket is an all-volunteer organization that additionally seeks to partner with individuals, groups and businesses in the East Central Indiana area.

We stretch every penny that we receive by seeking out the very best deal for each item that we give out - clipping coupons, watching weekly sales and supporting our local dollar stores.
Additionally we seek to partner with those organizations who are looking for a way to donate their "overflow" items.

Another cost-saving measure that we utilize is buying in bulk and breaking down large economy-size items into water-bottle "portions", allowing us to further maximize the impact of the donations we receive.
The Community Basket is always looking for unique, "outside-the-box" ways to raise funding and obtain items that we can give to those in need.

Please contact Liane Harrold at liane@thecommunitybasket.org for more information on how YOU can help us make a difference in OUR community!
